Sustainable Competitive or Personal Advantage, be able to articulate yours.

It is important to recognise what strengths we have, especially if they are better developed in us than in other people. We have our weaknesses also; however, we can build on our strengths but not our weaknesses.

We recognise strengths within ourselves, but often times it is enlightening to hear what strengths other people see in us. We may not even be aware of these ourselves. Some of the strengths may be recognised and developed whilst others need further development.

We should identify who are our key relationships, both in business and personal life and what those people need from us.

In order to identify our sustainable competitive or personal advantage, we need to find where our strengths intersect with the needs of our key relationships. Imagine rating the level of your strength from 1 to 10 and also the relevance of your strengths to the needs of your key relationships on a scale of 1 to 10. Then imagine plotting them on a graph. Only those strengths in the top right-hand corner (say both the strength and the relevance of the strength are 7 to 8 or higher) will become part of your advantage.

This may then give a basis to begin to explore what is your sustainable competitive or personal advantage.
